PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

Applications are now sought from appropriately experienced professionals to join our Maritime Sustainment business in the capacity of Finance Officer. As the Project Accountant, you will be responsible for the day to day financial administration of the ANZAC Alliance Delivery Organisation. The alliance oversees all the necessary maintenance and upgrades to the ANZAC class frigate ships.
In this key role, you will:
* Prepare supporting data for project journals including accruals and adjustments.
* Coordinate and prepare financial substantiation required for audits, reconciliations and any compliance obligations.
* Prepare monthly claims for submission to the Commonwealth.
* Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely reports to monitor performance and other key metrics.
* Maintain and monitor records to ensure compliance with contractual and internal requirements.
* Develop appropriate systems, procedures and controls to enhance the financials support provided to the project.
* Prepare ongoing billing processes, milestone schedule maintenance and monitoring, including incorporating changes resulting from contract change proposals.
As the ideal applicant, you will have:
* Previous experience in a similar position with experience working on small to medium scale projects.
* Diploma or degree qualification in accounting.
* Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost.
* The ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside of the immediate team, to implement business requirements.
* A reputation as someone who can be relied upon to deliver results and a "can do" attitude.
